There's a film from the '70's by the Berwick Street Collective called
Nightcleaners. This as it's title suggests was ostensibly about
working conditions within the work of cleaners andf their struggles,
and what could have been a look into a shocking world of
exploitation, etc. However gaps in picture and editing foreground its
own activity in the construction of meaning, specularity blocked,
etc. I don't know where it's available from but a quick search
produced this website discussing "..the film contains within itself
a reflection of its own involvement in the history of the events
being filmed..". and other useful perspectives.
