But 'family' like 'marriage', 'freedom', 'democracy', 'the American way'
and 'being British' are fallacies of a state of exclusive humanity which
exclude those you refused to participate in the self-oppressed
conformity required by religion and politics.
My problem as someone born with cerebral palsy is my exclusion from
society has been my exclusion from comformity, someone forget to give me
the emerald coloured glassed. I am convinced I am gay because this is
the natural state of most males before conformity is exercised.
Why should I want to be included to neither the promotion of worldwide
debt and social confirmity or the celebration of an tradiation of
conformity which has the sole purpose for oppressing people and not
letting them think. And I am talking about all religions including the
American ones... Elvis, Mickey Mouse and Superman/girl.
My reality is Christmas is a period of inconvience where carers and
other employees can further dicate their employment conditions and where
those who reply on self employment are unable to gain employment for a 6
week period.
If I am humbug... I personally really live in the real world than
pretend the westernized Christian faith of peace and goodwill means
something and warrents the next Hilter, on your side, to declare war on
Iraq, sorry North Korea (CIA finally paid them enough to make the
bombing worthwhile now Iraq has backfired, the CIA got to break even on
the 911 bombing especially now Bin Laden's acting contract expired).
Lets think about real inclusion and not integration which is the
conformity to people to the right way of think as opposed to widen the
concepts of thinking. Christmas has always been linked to charity, an
industry which always needed oppression to survive.

I agree with you Timothy...for those who are theologically challenged,
Muslims believe that Jesus was a prophet just like Mohammed.
Christmas is the birthday of Jesus Christ and it is only our consumer
driven society that sees it as just a day of shopping. The challenge
for people of good will at Christmas and all other holidays which are
family focused(I am Chinese American so I include Chinese New Year's in
this category) is how to include others at the table...
I belong to a very progressive United Church (of Canada) in Ottawa...My
participation in this wonderful church where no one is excluded,
everyone is welcome at the communion table (children, Muslims, Hindus
etc) is to reflect back on my fieldwork in a traditional Chinese village
in Malaysia where my neighbor, an elderly woman spent almost every
Chinese New Year's Eve and Day alone...since it was the custom for only
family to be at the table. As an outsider, I was granted "fictive kin"
status by my village family...It is only today, over two decades after
that fieldwork that I reflect upon the exclusivity of family in most
cultures...And so let us truely ponder the meaning of the "human family"
at Christmas and on other holidays and may our actions welcome "others"
to our door and table...
