We are looking for examples of joint public/school libraries. i.e.
libraries in the same building or community complex as a school, which
serve both as a public library as defined by the 1964 Act, and as a
library for the pupils of the school.
My thanks to colleagues at Peterborough to whom I have spoken by phone
about their Bretton, Orton and Werrington Libraries. If there are any
others out there, could they let me know. Please indicate the type of
school (primary/secondary) or age range of the pupils. Also whether they
operate concurrently as public/school libraries, or some days public and
other days school.
For the record, we do not operate such a library but are investigating
the viability of such a development.
