Thank you - this is as I thought...
We certainly do have ward level data, indeed for Wiltshire there is a very
useful website which is already providing excellent information
http://www.intelligencenetwork.org.uk/. Gathering statistics on membership
and issues, and comparing them to just this sort of data is part of the
plan. I guess I was just thinking (maybe ambitiously) about how we could
measure the impact of our activities on quality of life or on combating
highlighted areas of social exclusion.
I take the point about working in partnership: it is a very important one to
remember! I think I am therefore edging towards suggesting that we provide
a variety of ways of demonstrating the success of our work combatting social
exclusion (as opposed to one-size-fits-all statistics) including level of
partnership working, and how resources have been directed. At least this
can show how we work towards ends (e.g. in partnership) and revise our
targets as the nature of the situation changes. Performance indicators for
actual success will have to arise from each project, I feel, as we go along
as they will be particular to that project (e.g. not everything will result
in more issues or members...). The one thing it won't allow us to easily do
is "compare", but then the end is more important than the statistics!
Hmm... a tough one.
Thanks for your ideas. Any more would be appreciated!
