medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
>> Arnulf (before 850) Arnulf was a hermit who gave his name to the town
of
>> Eynesbury (Cambridgeshire)
Even by the morphing often seen in the journey from Old English to Middle
English and later, to go from "Arnulf" to "Eyne"[sbury] is quite a stretch.
Would any linguistically-inclined members of the list care to venture an
explanation for this baffling transition?
