CREATING PAGES FOR THE WORLD WIDE WEB: THE NEXT STEP

Discover how to incorporate web page features which can transform a basic
website into something more interesting, attractive and useful to your
site's visitors.
BENEFITS FROM ATTENDING
The day will be packed full of helpful hints and tips, and 'do's and don'ts'
on website management in relation to the features and functions outlined in
the programme.
This workshop includes practical hands-on exercises with Hot Metal Pro which
illustrates similar functions that can be found in Dreamweaver and Front
Page web packages. Sample pages will be used to illustrate the points made
during the workshop.
BY THE END OF THE EVENT PARTICIPANTS WILL HAVE:
* explored the key issues involved in creating a good web site
* looked at how to effectively manage information on a web site
* discovered how to design web pages that include 'forms', 'animated gifs',
'frames' and other advanced features or functions
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Those responsible for creating web pages within their organisation, those
who have already mastered basic web design skills but wish to develop their
skills further, and those who have previously attended the 'Creating pages
for the World Wide Web - getting started' workshop.

10.00 Introduction, welcome & objectives
10.10 Session 1: initial web page authoring exercise
Participants create some basic web pages to establish a foundation level and
acquaint them with the software in use
10.40 Session 2: CGI Scripts
What are they and what can you do with them?
11.10 Coffee
11.25 Session 3: forms
Forms for web page interaction, especially forms for feedback from 'readers'
12.00 Session 4: frames
Frames and how they can be used for smoother page presentation from fixed
menu frames
12.45 Lunch
1.30 Session 5: Animated gifs
An introduction to animated images, particularly 'animated GIF'
files for inclusion in web pages
2.15 Session 6: hands on exercise
A practical session to update the pages created in the initial exercise to
incorporate frames, with opportunities to experiment with image processing
and forms
