I seem to have taken the debate into another area. I have no problems with
non-librarians & commercial organisations being members of the list or
contributing to debates & being aware of issues I welcome it. My point was
well illustrated this afternoon by 3 unsolicited adverts for music related
courses - this is rather different to people & companies replying that they
think product x deals with well with a problem someone has raised on the
list or even this course could help you staff cope with this problem
already identified on the list.
I would rather we focussed on whether this lists remit should be widened &
if so how wide & can/should we set up another for some areas currently
appearing on this one but outside of its stated scope. Hence my suggestion
of a stock/circulation one.
