Thanks to everyone who answered my query about suppliers of materials for
speakers of other languages to learn English. The following is a
compilation of recommended web-sites, plus a few I found myself.
www.ctad.co.uk This deals with Basic Skills, Literacy and Numeracy, useful
to those with some knowledge of English
www.becta.org.uk/inclusion/inclusion_lang/esol/index.html Sorry the
underscore has been lost in my underlining. Lists useful software titles
and suppliers. May also be useful for People's Network with info on foreign
language fonts, keyboards etc
www.funenglish.co.uk Contains lots of links but beware, not updated
regularly
www.oup.com/elt/gb/ English language teaching materials but not
necessarily slanted at ESOL
www.cilt.org.uk Gives a comprehensive-looking list of publishers of
materials for language teachers, dated June 2001
www.growing.com/skills/english/esl_list.html Lots of links to other sites
on all aspects of language teaching, jobs etc. Some sites weren't there,
although last update was 03.02.02
www.cambridge-efl.org Useful to native speakers of European languages. (I
didn't say in my request but I was looking on behalf of Indic speakers)
www.ling.lancs.ac.uk I was given the address of a links page on this site
but alas it was not there when I tried.
Hope this is helpful to colleagues.
