medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Dear all,
This must be a relatively easy question for someone out there to answer.
I am compiling some background on Lorraine in the mid-thirteenth century
(1240, to be exact). Would it be correct to say that Lorraine was divided
between the archdioceses of Cologne and Trier at that time? The various
maps I have seem to indicate this, but I decided it would be best to
double-check with the collective wisdom of the list.
And would the territorial unit of Lorraine be referred to as a "duchy," a
"province," or by some other designation?
Thanks in advance --- you may reply offlist if it seems appropriate.
