medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
>Dear Phyllis: Any ideas about why Adelheid of Vilich (d. sometime
>between 1010 and 1020) was not canonized until l966? Also was that
>Anatolian Blaise the one that the Dominicans had a special fondness
>for? John
I confess that I don't know the answers to these questions. I checked a
few more sources, and can't find a Dominican connection for Blaise (can any
Dominicans on the list deal with this?). And books and indices of saints
are very scant on details for canonizations. I've been including date of
canonization when it seems interesting, in the hope that it might provoke
thought, discussion, answers to my own curiosity, etc. (a goal that has
succeeded very well to date). What this list needs is some historians of
the *modern* papacy.
