In 2000 the New Opportunities Fund circulated information to public
libraries called Community Access to Lifelong Learning in which it outlined
the funding for the People's Network programme. It also stated that NOF were
"keen to receive bids from a wide range of organisations and partnerships,
including library authorities" under the CALL programme. It also went on to
say that a joint application form had been developed with the DFEE to allow
applications for capital costs (from the DFEE) and revenue costs (from NOF).
In Doncaster we have been specifically excluded, by the regional Government
Office, from applying for funds under the CALL programme on the grounds that
"libraries are not eligible".
We would welcome advice and information from any library authorities which
have been successful in obtaining such funding.
Thank you for your help.
