NOF ADVANCED ROLES: INFORMATION CONSULTANT
4 March, Birmingham (Aston University) OR
26 March, London (LA Headquarters)
There are places available on this NOF advanced roles course, which is being
run at two venues during March.
Designed for staff who have achieved the NOF Expected Outcomes 1 - 8, this
course will train participants to the higher level of competence required by
NOF, as set out in chapter 11 of the Library and Information Commission's
1998 report Building the New Library Network:
"Here the librarian is responsible for advising people in the sources of
information that are most appropriate to their needs. Librarians need to
understand the technology requirements of the users and to be aware of the
information and technological resources in appropriate organisations."
(From: Building the New Library Network, 1998)
BY THE END OF THE EVENT
participants will understand how to:
* analyse and diagnose key user needs
* explore key information sources available via the Internet
* develop partnerships with other information providers
* re-package electronic information through effective design and
presentation
WHY CHOOSE THE LA AS YOUR NOF TRAINING PROVIDER?
Although there are a number of providers offering NOF ICT training there are
several reasons why the LA is the right choice for staff working in public
libraries. These reasons are:

* the programme is led by The Library Association, the leading chartered
professional body for library and information professionals
* partners include Canterbury Christ Church University College, who are at
the forefront of developments in e-learning in the education field
