The Future of 'Just Business'
As many of you will know, the present DFID funding for the 'Just
Business'project is due to expire on 31st March 2002. We have applied to
DFID for a grant to extend the life of the project for a further 2 years,
and during that time to develop new and innovative ways of working.
The focus of the second stage of the project would be to further the
dissemination of the project's work and ensure that this work is continued
and sustainable. We propose to do this through a series of training events,
for regional groupings of Development Education Centres , to train their
staff to work with the target groups of Business Studies and Economics
educators that 'Just Business' seeks to address. We also hope to continue
offering INSET to Local Education Authorities, to continue and further
develop our work with Initial Teacher Education establishments, and develop
more educational materials to explore the ethical and global dimensions
within Business Studies and Economics.
We will not know about the outcome of this new application until the
beginning of March. If you have, in any capacity, been involved in the
project, or made use of the website or other project resources - or just if
you generally think the project is a good idea and should be continued, we
would appreciate messages of support for an extension of the grant. You
can e-mail these to [log in to unmask] (John Murray, at the Information
Department, DFID).
Thanks for your support
