Dear List,

As most of you (I hope) are aware 'Just Business' exists to encourage and
support the inclusion of a global and ethical dimension in the teaching and
learning of Business Studies and Economics in secondary schools. The
purpose of this le-mail is to make you more aware of the work of 'Just
Business', and to ask you to make this information available to teachers of
these subjects in your area.

Newsletter Distribution
We have just produced our latest newsletter (Spring 2002) which highlights
some of the work done in the third year of the project. As the file is
quite large (499k) I have not attached it. If you would like a copy please
send me an e-mail off-list and I will send it out to you. I would be
grateful if you could bring the newsletter to the attention of your
colleagues in schools, either by duplicating it and distributing, or by
summarising its contents in your own publications.

If you would like to recieve any hard (paper) copies please send me a
postal address and the number of copies you require.

I should also be grateful if you would draw your colleagues' attention to
the 'Just Business' website at www.jusbiz.org, that provides information
for teachers when developing global and ethical perspectives in their
teaching. The site includes news, articles, a discussion forum, and free
teaching resources. We have also helped finance the Biz/Ed production of a
'Virtual Developing Economy' which is now on-line at
www.bized.ac.uk/virtual/dc/.

'Just Business' needs you
We are looking for educators of Business Studies and Economics to help us
on our project.
* Would you be interested in writing an article for our website?
* Would you like the opportunity to trial new resources (and get yourself a
free copy)?
* Do you have any, or would you be willing to create, case studies on
ethical businesses?
* Do you know of relevant websites that we do not link to?
* Do you have suggestions of what other content should be added to the
'Just Business' website?
There are many other ways you may be able to help the 'Just Business' - if
you are interested please contact me by phone (01603 610993) or e-mail

'Just Business' INSET / Initial Teacher Training delivery

Finally I would like you to be aware that 'Just Business' is able to offer
INSET / ITT sessions around global and ethical issues in Business Studies
and Economics. If you would like further information, or would like to
discuss the possibility of an INSET in your area, please write, telephone,
or e-mail [log in to unmask] .

I would be grateful if you could advise me whether and how you have
disseminated the information about the project to teachers in your area,
and how many teachers you have contacted. This information is invaluable
for the purpose of monitoring and evaluating the project.

Yours sincerely,

Finbarr Carter
Project Assistant.
