No references, but I have the copyright info on a programme the BBC did on
the menagerie (History Zone: Kings and Beasts, transmitted 15th April 2000).
It lists the following people as contributors, so they may be able to help
you:
Dr Graham Keevil & Duncan Wood of Oxford Archaeological Unit
Dr Edward Impey, Curator, Historic Royal Palaces
Dr Geoffrey Parnell, Keeper of Tower History
also Prof Harriet Ritvo, but it doesn't say what institute she is with.
