The attached letter was sent to the Wellcome library on spec. I'm
forwarding in its entirety to the list as it may be of interest to other
organisations.

Dear Mrs./Mr.,
Galileo is the first Italian webzine on science and global issues
(http://www.galileonet.it). A group of journalists and researchers founded
it in Rome in 1996 and it is on line since then, published for free. For
more information about us: http://www.galileonet.it/Chi_siamo/about_us.html
We are applying for a European Project that supports the production and the
distribution of digital content and promotes cultural diversity on the
networks. In brief, a tool for sharing digital information in a European
multilingual network. Our field of expertise is science, environmental and
development issues, human rights.
The partnership is open to players of all sizes and types and we thought
that your Institution might be interested. We are looking particularly at
players similar to us (i.e., no-profit, institutions concerned about science
communication and issues, electronic media, universities, national research
centres). Unfortunately, at the moment we can not send you much more
information than this, because we are trying to fix everything up for the
end of August.
If by any chance, you cannot join us, feel free to forward this letter to
whoever might be interested in this partnership. The deadline for the answer
is the 7th of September 2002. At this stage it is sufficient to have a
letter or an e-mail in which you show your interest in the project.
Thank you very much for your time and attention. Looking forward to hearing
from you.
Best regards,
Paola Coppola
(project manager)
