This paper describes the value of a branding concept for The
Netherlands. The Foundation for InterNational Image Research (INIR),
which started this project in 1999, has chosen to formulate a code of
ambition with a far-reaching perspective. Such a code addresses not
only the own population but also and foremost the international
community. Research has shown which Dutch qualities are the most
suitable for meeting global needs. Many of these ambitions are dealing
with knowledge transfer. This matches the national mission statement:
"Knowledge is our main resource. The Netherlands has the ambition to
share this knowledge with the world".
