One postdoctoral position is open after Oct. 1st. 2002 in the research
group of Dr. Markus Meuwly in the Department of Chemistry at the
University of Basel, Switzerland, in the research area of computational
and theoretical chemistry/biophysics.
Qualified candidates should have a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics, or
related fields. A strong background in computational/theoretical
chemistry/physics (e.g., electronic structure theory, statistical
mechanics, computer simulation) and some programming skills are
essential. Experience with biological systems is desirable but not
mandatory. The main theme of our research is to develop and apply
state-of-the-art computational tools to achieve an understanding of
the reaction mechanisms, intermolecular interactions and the nuclear
dynamics in complex systems. The systems of primary interest are
biological macromolecules, particularly enzymes.
The University of Basel (http://www.chemie.unibas.ch) together with the
Biozentrum (http://www.biozentrum.unibas.ch/) is an internationally
renowned institution. Its proximity to Hoffmann-La Roche and Novartis
also facilitates contact between university and industry. Basel is a
very livable and culturally open city.
Interested candidates should send a C.V., covering letter, and arrange
for two letters of recommendation to be sent:
Electronically (preferred) to:
