Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position
in the research group of Dr. Balakrishnan Naduvalath
in the Department of Chemistry, University of Nevada
Las Vegas. The position is available from July 1, 2002
or earliest thereafter.
Qualified candidates should have a Ph.D in Chemistry,
Physics or related areas with a strong background in
theoretical/computational chemistry and chemical dynamics.
Experience in electronic structure calculations is a plus.
The main focus of the project is to study chemistry of OH
and HO2 radicals in the middle atmosphere (stratosphere and
mesosphere) and to better understand the odd hydrogen
(H + OH + HO2) chemistry in this region of the atmosphere.
Candidates with a strong interest in applying state of
the art theoretical/computational methods to atmospheric
phenomena are especially encouraged to apply.
The position is funded through a grant from the National
Science Foundation and it is initially available for one
year with the possibility of renewal for an additional
two more years. Salary will be about $35000/year for the
first year.
