Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position
in the research group of Dr. Balakrishnan Naduvalath
in the Department of Chemistry, University of Nevada
Las Vegas. The position is available immediately.
Qualified candidates should have a Ph.D in Chemistry,
Physics or related areas with a strong background in
theoretical/computational chemistry and chemical dynamics.
Experience in electronic structure calculations is a plus but
it is not a requirement. The main focus of the project is
to study chemistry of OH and HO2 radicals in the middle atmosphere
(stratosphere and mesosphere) and to better understand the odd
hydrogen (H + OH + HO2) chemistry in this region of the atmosphere.
Candidates with a strong interest in applying state of
the art theoretical/computational methods to atmospheric
phenomena are especially encouraged to apply.
The position is funded through a grant from the National
Science Foundation and it is initially available for one
year with the possibility of renewal for an additional
two more years. Salary will be about $35000/year for the
first year.
