The Institute of Palaeoanatomy and the Bavarian State Collection of
Anthropology and Palaeoanatomy would like to invite you to attend the
5th International Meeting of the ICAZ Bird Working Group in Munich,
Germany on July 25th-28th, 2004.
Scientific programme
The general programme will consist of oral and poster presentations of
recent research and findings concerning all aspects of bird remains in
archaeology and depictions of birds in ancient arts. Specific topics
concerning medical treatment in ancient times of domestic and wild birds
as well as scientific bird bone collections and their curation are also
welcome.
Meeting facilities
Slide projector and overhead projector will be available. Please, let
us know in advance if you have special requirements regarding the audio
visual equipment. Posters will be set up in the hall outside the meeting
room where refreshments will be provided.
Accommodation
Unfortunately Munich is one of the most expensive cities of Germany. We
have no student dormitories at our disposal and participants have to
overnight in hotels. However, there is a series of nice and not too
expensive hotels around the University, where the meeting will take
place. Details and rates will be included in the next circulars.
Registration fee
The registration fee will be 120 Euro. Detailed information about
possible field trip expenses will be announced in the second circular.
Participants from developing countries may apply for exemption from
registration fee and limited stipend for accommodation.
Letters of invitation
On request, a personal invitation for participation in the meeting may
be sent to help paper or poster presenters raise travel funds and/or
obtain a visa.
Proceedings
The papers will be reviewed after the meeting and published in the
Documenta Archaeobiologiae, the Journal of the Bavarian State collection
of Anthropology and Palaeoanatomy. Manuscripts, due at the time of the
meeting, should be written in English. Specific requirements will be
announced in the second circular.
Abstracts
Format of abstracts, methods of submission of abstracts and deadlines
for their submission will be given in the next circular in approximately
June 2003.
