I couldn't agree more-but its a hard enough task persuading teams within a
single organisation that it is just another aspect of teaching/learning
rather than something with a life of its own or an added extra. Surely it
should be seen as a vehicle for joined up thinking about such issues as
sharing resources, good practice, not doubling effort etc. For most however
it is a steep learning curve!

I agree that the e-learning agenda is fragmented with many groups
developing
strategies etc. with apparently no overall coherence and probably
re-inventing the wheel many times. Is e-learning not simply a subset
of the
overall "learning agenda" rather than a "stand alone" process?

See DfES press release today. I would hope that once post 16
strategy is
complete, strategies for HE and pre-16 will be produced. This will
allow
for cross-sectoral strategies rather than individual sector with
differing agendas.
It is amazing how many groups exist that are looking a e-Learning in
a
not too joined up manner.
