The pro-European association "Forward in Europe"
has organised a major discussion on a very topical
theme:
BORDER CONTROLS, ASYLUM, IMMIGRATION
AND COMBATING CRIME, led by the Director General
of the European Commission responsible for this area
ADRIAN FORTESCUE.
Adrian Fortescue was a British diplomat who served in
Beirut, Paris, Brussels, Washington and Budapest before
joining the European Commission in 1985. Soon after that
he assumed responsibility within the Commission for
Justice and Home Affairs. In 1999 he became the Commission's
first Director General for this sector. In this role he has been
closely involved in the EU's response to September 11th.
