Evaluation in practice
A mini conference to examine the role of evaluation in languages
education
Wednesday 17 April 2002 (14:00 - 17:15)
CILT, 20 Bedfordbury, London, WC2N 4LB
Evaluation - of courses, of materials, of teaching methods - is an
increasingly significant feature of the educational landscape. In a
context where new initiatives and new approaches are constantly promoted
by local and national authorities and by commercial concerns,
investigations which enable teachers, educational managers and policy
makers to determine the value of the range on offer are an important
factor in making decisions. This event is aimed at those who conduct,
fund, and/or use the results of evaluations and those who are evaluated.
It will debate the purposes and usefulness of the exercise - and
evaluate evaluation.
Speakers include:
* Professor Charles Alderson, University of Lancaster
* Cecilia Garrido, Open University
* Dr Chris Jones, University of Lancaster
