We are currently re-evaluating our glucose meters on NICU and within
maternity. Initially, we are going to look at the HemoCue glucose 201 and
the Roche Advantage/Compact/Active. Our main concerns are with the high
haematocrit interference seen in some newborns and the performance of the
meter at low levels of glucose.
Does anyone in the group use either meter in these situations? Are
there any other meters we should be looking at? What do other people use in
NICU/maternity? Are there any other issues we should be looking at with
regards to the expected usage of the meter?
