Dear Dr. Badrinath,
I always read your postings with much interest and admiration, and I never
fail to find something useful. I think you do a great public service.
This latest time, I found myself wondering at the overwhelming proportion
of positive results in your listings. I have noted it before. Can you
explain it? Is it because it is so difficult to get negative results
published? Because you weed out the equivocal or negative findings? Or
something else?
Recently there has been a wave of doubt about screening tests, and the
studies justifying them have been revisited with a generally negative
result. My native skepticism applies to both the original studies and the
doubt, and perhaps that has made me even more critical than usual of
positive results.
Regards,
SKaiser
