medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
St Ubaldesca was not a crusader herself, but a sister of the Order of St
John of Jerusalem. Her pious and ascetic behaviour was explained as her wish
to suffer like the brothers suffered in the East in their fight against the
infidel. She was a member of an Hospitaller house in Pisa and died in 1206.
