medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Apart from major fasts, I see also that Wednesdays and Fridays should
see one avoiding cheese if one is Coptic. Partial to a bit of
Wensleydale myself, I wonder if we have analogues, and whether I should
therefore worry?
Avoidance of cheese is the question.
Cheesily and coptically, but also seriously (Monty Python jokes
sniggered at but not relevant to this list).
What analogues might we have about cheese and/or the avoidance thereof?
And can anyone help me with the 'Festival of Cheese' associated, in the
Coptic church, with the Assumption of the BVM? My local Egyptiqan
sources on this have dried up. But it sounds like the sort of festival
I'd like and maybe even dance at, in spite of my arthritis.
Cooler here now
Angus, Oman
