Dear Colleagues,
NEW PAGES ADDED TO - Clwyd-Powys Archaeological Trust Website
I would like to bring to your attention the "Caring For Church
Archaeology" pages recently added to our extensive archaeological
website, which you may find interesting. For the index page, go to:
http://www.cpat.org.uk/projects/longer/churches/churches.htm
This has been compiled from the booklet "Caring for Church Archaeology",
published in 2000 by Cadw: Welsh Historic Monuments and the Welsh
Archaeological Trusts. This marked the end of a four year project to
survey and record all pre-nineteenth century churches across Wales.
As well as the booklet and these webpages the survey produced detailed
reports about each church which are (or will soon be) accessible on-line
as the "Historic Churches Survey" database pages - individually
generated direct from the survey database. For an overview of the
survey database, go to:
http://www.cpat.org.uk/projects/longer/churches/churches.htm#surveyidx
As yet only the Montgomeryshire web pages have been prepared which look
in detail at the 56 pre-nineteenth century churches surveyed, but it is
hoped that individual pages for the remaining church surveys will be
produced over the next few months. To access directly the already on-
line "Montgomeryshire Churches Survey" pages, go to:
http://www.cpat.org.uk/projects/longer/churches/montgom/idxmont.htm
Another six sections covering the remaining areas in Powys and the
former county of Clwyd - Eastern Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire,
Wrexham, Radnorshire and Brecknockshire - will follow over the next
months. Please come back regularly and check out the new sections as
they are added.
We hope you find these webpages interesting and useful.
