The British Library's New Strategic Directions has recently been
published, which puts forward our proposals for the development of
the Library over the next five years. We have also published a
consultation survey which will give us an insight into the balance of
opinion among our readers, visitors and other users.

If you have an interest in web access to Library services and how
we can provide better coverage of digital resources, please
complete the survey online at www.bl.uk.

There will also be a meeting on July 16th at 14.30 in the Auditorium
of the British Library to discuss future collecting policies. The
Library's strategy for the development of its collections is
predicated upon the findings of its own Collection Development
Review and the work conducted in association with Higher
Education, under the auspices of the BL/HE Task Force, which
points towards the coordination of a distributed national collection
of research resources. Mike Crump, Director of Reader Services &
Collection Development, will expand upon the findings of the
Collection Development Review and the concept of a coordinated
distributed national collection of research resources. Seats will be
available on a first-come basis.
