medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Hi,
At K'zoo an editor from McFarland Press was VERY interested in a reference
book idea of mine, and wants me to send her my three sample chapters. I have
never published before (I wrote nine episodes of different animated episodes
that have been on the air, but I dont' think that counts here) so I was
wondering if any of you could give me some advice.
Should I try to get an agent since I have an editor interested?
Or should I just trust the editor to be fair and get me the best deal?
Do presses give advances for research, and if so, how much is the norm?
Are there any guidelines out there for scholars publishing their first
books?
Any advice would be most appreciated, and thanks in advance,
Wendy Reardon
