However, there is evidence that the older you are the more susceptible you are to CO, related to IHD.

Regarding CO toxicity and the effcets of co-existing disease.
A paper was presented on this topic at the Royal College of Pathologists of
Australasia by a Forensic Pathology Registrar in 1996. (I am reporting from
memory because I am not able to find a copy of the abstract). She
investigated about 70 deaths (?and near deaths) from CO poisoning and
looked at the CO levels and the outcome with particular reference to
effects of intercurrent illness, eg coronary artery disease, lung
pathology (I cannot recall about anaemia). Her findings were that there was
no obvious effect of intercurrent disease on the toxic levels of CO.
