Following the discussing and tracing of literature and knowledge on
tortoises, and tortoises as food.
I would like to add that in classical time in ancient greece musical
instruments such as some types of the lyra/citar were made from tortoises.
The hollow shell-case of it constituting the lyra-box. These type of lyra
are rendered on vases showing satyrplays, feasts for the gods and so on.
Maybe it originated already in the bronzeage ( I read somewhere), does
anyone know more about this tortoise-instrument, the making of it and
exactly when and where it occured ?
I have another question: does anyone know literature or investigations on
tortoises in Bulgaria ( I need to know that for my dissertation).
Thanks for a good inquiry list and best regards from Jesper Ostergaard.
