Hi,
(a) Although the Nazi's took Concentration Camps to particularly nasty
extremes I was sure the term predated the second world war and have a dim
recollection that it was first used by a colonial power in its far off
dominions. Unfortunately I can't lay my hands on the details - can anyone
give some authoritative pointers?
(b) Can anyone provide pointers to any reliable numbers relating to asylum
seekers, processing time, numbers accepted (and from where), any evidence of
the scale of unreasonable refusal and so on. It would be most convenient to
have some idea of the scale of emigration from this "tolerant" isle and also
the scale of the "demographic time bomb".
It's not only national politics that can put up the barriers, so I'm not in a
desperate hurry - but as it is also on the national agenda at the moment it
seemed like a good time to ask
Regards
Paul
