I have to point out that this message is inconsistent with the list policy
that is being advocated by David Gordon and others. That policy includes
the statement:
(quote) We hope that contributions will be polite, addressing issues and
ideas rather than commenting on individuals and will bear in mind JANET
mailbase policy, that material 'likely to cause annoyance, inconvenience or
needless anxiety' is unacceptable.'(unquote)
I fully support this aspect of the proposed list policy. But faith in the
meaning of the proposed policy is lost if it appears to mean such different
things to its signatories than it does to other people.
The message quoted above is also violates JANET acceptable use policy that
bans defamatory messages. To persistently suggest that someone who earns
their living as a knowledge worker invents fantasies is seriously
defamatory.
OK, the fingers can run away with the keyboard. I am sure that it was all
said with humourous intent. But, Dave, can we have an apology to confirm
that?
