Even if a library chooses, for example, to link to Elsevier's pages instead
of to Ingenta, this only potentially solves the missing content problem if
your patrons are using the catalog to get to the journal, which they don't
always.
As a case in point, we are subsidizing UnCover for document delivery, to
which Ingenta recently added benefit of links to full-text. This is a
great feature, but it is the main source of reports of missing content in
Ingenta (which we do report to Ingenta at their request).
It's been my experience that if you use a work-around, the party causing
the problem will never know to fix it.
