We are investigating this route. My own preference is for a setup where we
(the University) do all our own authentication of external users and then
onward link them to the required resource. This would remove the need for
distributing any other ids and passwords including Athens. This means we
will need to take full responsibility for authentication but in exchange
we will have full control.
