Gerry,
In response to your e-mail requesting details of alerting/SDI and Table of
Contents searching, may I bring to your attention a system called TDNet,
which appears to fit your requirements.
TDNet offers the following :
An interface allowing access to ALL e-journals, irrespective of publisher,
vendor, aggregator or other supplier;
Maintenance of access to relevant URL's on supplier's individual websites
sites;
Table of Contents for all titles on the system, both electronic, print and
also titles to which the institution does not subscribe;
End-users may set up their own individual private sub-set of titles and can
request alerts by e-mail for journal issues, article titles keywords,
authors, journal titles and publishers;
Comprehensive statistical usage detail, searchable by a number of criteria,
including journal, publisher, vendor, IP address and personal profile. It
will also compile statistics on peak usage.
TDNet does not at present offer alerts by subject, but this will be
available in the very near future (approximately one month). Subject
classification will be by Library of Congress (to the third level) and
should meet your criteria.
May I suggest you logon to the TDNet website ( www.tdnet.com ) and have a
look at the system. If you link into the TDNet demo logon, you can request
a username and password which will allow you use it in demonstration mode,
including TOC searching and alerting.
Should you require further details about TDNet, may I suggest that you
contact our Sales Manager in the US, Bob Schatz, who can be contacted by
e-mail ([log in to unmask]) or telephone (503 287 4722). Alternatively,
please don't hesitate to contact me if you would like me to supply more
details.
I hope this is useful to you.
Keith Renwick.

Alerting / SDI services, particularly those offered by any of the
Aggregators, as well as those that one to receive Alerts from potentially
all e-journals offered by a publisher or aggregator WITHOUT having to
establish a interest profile within *individual* e-journals.
