Here are a few figures I have found for you. I hope they will be of
some use. The list of countries where Spanish is spoken follows.
Spanish is the 4th most spoken language in the world. Here is a
list of the most spoken languages (in millions):
1. Mandarin Chinese: 1070
2. English: 508
3. Hindi: 497
4. Spanish: 392
5. Russian: 277
6. Arabic: 246
7. Bengali: 211
8. Portuguese: 191
9. Malay-Indonesian: 159
10. French: 129
11. German: 128
12. Japanese: 126

Spanish is spoken in Latin America (353 m.), Spain (43.3 m.), Equatorial
Guinea (61.3 m.),
The Philippines, and the USA (32.4 m., including in % of the population New
Mexico: 36.6%;
Texas: 21%; California: 19.2% (and 22.6% in the south of California),
Arizona: 16.2%; New
York: 9.5% (and in the city 19.9%); Florida: 8.8%; Miami: 35.7%. These
figures show that
Spanish is the second language of the USA.
