This is in response to the Fight Club message --
Hi there, I'm Heidi and here's what I've liked recently:
After Life -- a Japanese film that I see as a kind of philosophical sequel
to the film Last Night: in that film we saw a low-key and original take on
the end of the world; in this, we see a low-key and very different take on
the afterlife.
Unbreakable -- I'm amazed at how much I really like this film. It's a new
release from the guy who did the Sixth Sense and I personally found it to
be superior in almost every way. Samuel L. Jackson at his creepy best
(don't read the box).
The Dish -- very, very good even though it sounds very, very boring.
Almost Famous -- you should find it at least somewhat compelling.
Memento -- in the same tradition as Pi and 12 Monkeys with a delicious
Schrodinger's Cat-esque ending.
Moulin Rouge -- funny, charming heteroglossia (the critics call it a
"flawed gem" but they have their heads in their, well......)
