involving visits to 4 or 5 European countries:-
THE ECOSLOPES BIOENGINEERING PROJECT
As a participant in this European Project funded under the 5th Framework,
The Nottingham Trent University is recruiting a Researcher to join the
project team researching the Use of Vegetation to help stabilise slopes.
RESEARCH STUDENT, Annual award of approximately £7,000 per year for a 3
year period.
He/she should have a recognised good degree in Civil or Geotechnical
Engineering or Engineering Geology or Soil Science with an interest in slope
stability and the effects of vegetation. The Student should be competent in
numerical and computer work and fluent in 'technical' English Language.
Responsibilities will include:-
· Carrying out field investigations of vegetated sites in both the UK and
Europe.
· In situ shear box testing in UK and Europe.
· Assistance with data base design and preparation
· Assistance with limit equilibrium and numerical analysis of vegetated
slopes
· Assistance with preparation of reports and publications
Preference will be given to Candidates from EU countries participating in
the research project. The successful Research Student will be required to
enrol for a MPhil/PhD degree.

commence in July/August 2001
