I strongly agree with the relation between tech and offer.  In our hospital
we have an individual offer for both ..... because we use dry-chemistry
slide technology (the Vitros 250).  We used to do ions in a Hitachi 912
and, as a result the default offer was always Cl, Na and K.
Very few people noticed the drop of Cl from the trio!
Besides they may still ask for it.

I can certainly agree with this assertion: Having argued against the need
for routine chloride & bicarb, we still provide them because they are on
our Beckmans. We are currently looking at replacement and I will not worry
about their presence on any potential new instrument.

Unfortunately this correlation has never been done, but it may one
which should be included in future studies.I am not sure whather it
