On the connection between Binsey and St Frideswide, see John Blair,
"Thornbury, Binsey, a Probable Defensive Enclosure associated with
Saint Frideswide," in Saint Frideswide's Monastery at Oxford:
Archaeological and Architectural Studies, Oxoniensia, vol. LIII
(1988), pp. 3-20. St Margaret's church is located within a large
earthwork which may possibly have functioned as a monastic enclosure
or retreat for St Frideswide.
