Dear Bernadette,
Padre Pio's beatification took place in 2 May 1999 (yours truly was there,
and I experienced a miracle too. During the ceremony I rode with metro and
found completely empty carriage! Imagine, empty carriage in means of public
transportation during the rush hour in Rome). This means that he is now one
miracle short of sanctity. Nevertheless, being proclaimed as beatus already
makes him more than just average man. I would be happy to hear Bill East's
view on what exactly means to be beatus?
Cheers,
