Call for Papers at Kalamazoo, May 2001
The Hagiography Society is organizing three sessions for next year's
meeting at Kalamazoo. None of these sessions will have invited speakers,
and we haven't yet received enough abstracts to fill any of them. So this
is a genuine--even urgent--invitation to anyone who's working on these
topics! Please send abstracts by 15 September to Renate
Blumenfeld-Kosinski, 47 Cherrybrook Drive, Princeton, NJ 08540; tel (609)
466-1225; email [log in to unmask] .
(1) Miracles and social status (Looking at miracles as a two-way street:
how the giver's and/or the recipient's social status conditions the
miraculous transaction; how social status can be defined or changed by a
miracle).
(2) Early saints and their reuses in later periods (Later redeployments of
saints; political and ideological implications of revivals of cults or the
creation of new cults for older saints).
(3) Landscapes of sanctity (Topography and its connections with particular
saints or types of saints; regional characteristics or preferences for
certain cults).
