"abbot of the royal monasteries" (i.e., the royal collegials of Etampes,
Pontoise, etc.), got religion, probably under the influence of St. Bernie,
entered Citeaux (Clairvaux?) --bringing with him as bedtime reading his
opulent edition of the Glossa Ordinaria, now partly in the Troyes library (at
least one vol. still with its 12th c. binding-- then being sent out into the
cold world again, first as archbishop of Sens(?), then finishing up @ Reims.
