When the "Chant" recordings were originally made from the early 70's to the
early 80's, the purpose was preservation more than anything. And as the
popularity of such recordings was rather low, any payment the monks at Silos
received was probably subsidized by other divisions of the recording company.
At the time, the monastery was probably elated to get the money they did.
Who could have foreseen a dramatic upsurge in interest in the mid-90's?
