In that case you may be interested to look at <The Dogsbody Papers, or 1066
and all This>, ed. by E. O. Parrott (Penguin 1989). It seems that a every
significant event in English history (and many insignificant ones) some
member of the Dogsbody tribe (or with a variant on the name) was present to
report it. It could also be recommended to undergraduates...
