The Warburg Institute in London are running a 2 day colloquium entitled
"Apocalypse then and now". (17-18 March 2000).
The WI is an art history institute and this is being done in conjunction
with the Department of Prints & Drawings so I don't know that there will be
much scope for in-depth theological debate. I am sitting here with the
programme, which has titles like "The Apocalypse in Maps" "the 14th century
'Jour de Jugement' and the invention of Antichrist iconography" through to
(and I quote) "Esotericism, dualism and catastrophe, modern elitist and
populist revivals of Enochic apocalyptism". Don't ask me what it means. The
programme is essentially chronologically oriented ( I just want to avoid
saying chronological - what programme isn't?) .
A survey on jargon in business meetings has hit the headlines here in the
UK. It says that many people do not understand the terms they encounter/use
in business meetings. They should try academia!
There's no charge for attendance, but you do have to fend for yourself!
