Hello again,
Just to remind everyone that from Monday 27th (the week after next) messages
for this list should be sent to [log in to unmask] I copy below the
original notification for information.
The latest from JISCmail is that from 8.30 am on Monday Nov 27
- anyone using the old address will receive a reminder automatically about
the address change
- messages sent to the old address will also be forwarded to the new address
for the list
- there's no need to use both addresses, or to re-send messages.
Please remeber to update any Contact information, or mail filtering rules
that use the old address for the list. Things like the use of digests of
messages will be unaffected.

Original message follows

Hello all,
>From 27th November a change will be made to the service that provides this
mailing list. The service (currently provided by Mailbase at the University
of Newcastle) will be taken over by a team at the Rutherford Appleton
Laboratory in Oxford, England. FISHEN will at the same time be taking the
opportunity to change the name for our forum from FISHEN to FISH, as
announced. The new service also has a new name, JISCmail, reflecting its
funding by the Joint Information Systems Committee.
These changes have some practical effects on us as follows:-
1) The email address that we all use to send messages to the list will
change from [log in to unmask] to
[log in to unmask]
NB messages sent to the old address will get through during a hand-over
period, but please update any contact details you keep for the FISHEN list
as soon as possible.
2) The address to send commands to will change from [log in to unmask]
to
[log in to unmask]
It will also be good practice to end any command emails with a double hyphen
-- . This will avoid errors in processing commands.
So for example some typical commands will from November 27th be:-
a) To leave this list send the following as the only text of a message to
[log in to unmask]
leave fish
--
b) To join this list send the following as the only text of a message to
[log in to unmask]
join fish [First Name Last Name]
--
replacing [First Name Last Name] with your name.
c) To get a file from the archive send the following as the only text of a
message to [log in to unmask]
get fish\[filename.file extension]
--
replacing the [filename.file extension] with the name of the file
e.g. to get the Word file dsunews4.doc the command would read
get fish\dsunews4.doc
--
Best wishes, and my apologies if you've already heard all this from other
lists!
